2009 Pinot Noir

This wine is made from a blend of fruit from the North and South of Tasmania. 2009 was an extremely low-yielding vintage for Pinot Noir in Tasmania, due to conditions during fruit set in spring 2008. The vintage was relatively cool, with the grapes ripening slowly and harvested later than average. The resulting 2009 Kate Hill Pinot Noir is more restrained and elegant than the 2008. It is now available but in extremely limited quantities due to the low yield of the vintage.

2008 Riesling

Kate’s 2008 Tasmanian Riesling is a blend of only the choicest grapes from around the state. It is a courageous departure from what we have come to expect as the norm: the acerbic, dry Australian Riesling. It evokes the German-style with a full fruit nose and an alluring yet enigmatic “knife’s edge” balance of sweet and dry. Kate believes this unique character could not have been achieved without the quality of Tasmania’s grapes and its unique climate. In January 2009 it was awarded the only Gold Medal in its class at the Tasmanian Wine Show.

Kate’s 2008 Riesling had a hugely successful year and unfortunately is no longer available for purchase.
